April 4th at 6pm a gathering to Shine a Light on Autism will be held at Founder's Park (near the Fish sculpture). Blue glow sticks will be given to the first 100 people. We will walk towards Sioux Park at dusk to Shine our Light and raise awareness for Autism. Autism is now 1 in every 68 births. An increase of 30% since 2012.

Attend a wonderful Workshop to learn how to create a One Page Introduction as a way to educate and help others, in a very understandable and specific way, to support your toddler, child, or adult. It has saved me hours of explaining to teachers, aids, Special Olympics coaches, etc. how to understand and better care for Andrew.
South Dakota Parent Connection wants to hold the next Rapid City workshop when people are available. They just need one parent/caregiver although more family members and the individuals themselves are all invited. Click below for a description of the workshop.
The choices for dates are:
Thursday, September 19th (evening),
Saturday, September 21 (morning),...
Monday, September 23 (evening), and

They will also consider other dates. Please contact Brenda Smith at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or (605) 770-6098 if you have an interest. This is free!
